Blue eyes began around 10,000 years ago near the Black Sea (long before the designation celtic or nordice appeared.) They can be found in varying amounts in all European countries, but tend to be more so in the far north.. The Scandinavians have well over 85% blue eyes,and blue eyes is about 75% in Ireland...but in Wales (also a 'celtic' country) blue eyes are much less common and brown, including quite dark brown eyes, are often found. Parts of Spain also can have considerable blue eyes (up to 25%)
